“I am writing you cause I need you to take my dog, Shell … I’ve been fighting cancer for a few months and if you’re reading this I lost my battle. I need for my baby girl to be taken care of in a home with one person … In these days all I do is worry about what’s going to happen to her. I love this girl, she is my daughter.”

The woman sent this note to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Missouri, the same shelter where Shell was adopted from in 2010. The woman also talked about the likes and dislikes, and temperament of her senior pooch in the hand-written letter.

After the woman passed away, Shell’s whole world was torn apart. She was given a temporary shelter with a volunteer, while the staff shared her story on their Facebook page. Soon, the post met with a massive response from the people.

After receiving many applications for Shell’s adoption, Shell went home with a woman who lost her dog recently and wanted to fill the void with another furry companion. Shell is happy being a pampered senior pup in her new home. Looks like Shell’s deceased Mom did manage to give her a happy ending!
